PULPOTOMY HOME CARE

Please follow these instructions to ensure the comfort and protection of your child and the pulpotomy they have received.

  1. Since the area that was worked on is "numb" or "asleep", you will need to watch that your child does NOT chew their cheek, tongue or lips.

  2. Give your child acetaminophen according to the manufactures directions for their age/weight for up to 24 hours.

  3. Give your child their antibiotic medication as directed by Dr. Peterson until completed.

  4. Have them gently brush and floss this area for the first 24-48 hours.

  5. Do not chew on this side due to the new filling for 24 hours.

  6. After 24 hours you may rinse their mouth with warm salty water (1/2 tsp. of salt in glass of warm water) every 1 to 2 hours.

  7. Do not give them hard or sticky foods as this may remove their filling material. Try soft easy to chew foods for 24 to 36 hours.

  8. If your child still has problems with discomfort for more than 48 to72 hours please call our office 308-436-3491.
