DENTURE SOFTLINER

A softliner is a temporary liner that is placed in a new or old denture in order too:

bullet

Improve the health of your gum tissue by absorbing some of the pressure of chewing.

It can give the maximum retention possible due to the type of material it is made from.

Used to help to determine if the denture should have a permanent soft or a permanent hard liner.

Home Care Instructions:

  1. DO NOT REMOVE YOUR DENTURE FROM YOUR MOUTH FOR THE FIRST 24 HOURS.  This is very important! The liner material will stay soft for 24 hours and needs this time to shape itself to your gum tissue.

  2. After the first 24 hours you may remove the denture once every 12 hours for the first two day.  After reach removal, rinse the denture with warm water only! Do not use any of the commercial cleaners that are made for dentures. You may brush the teeth of the dentures with a SOFT toothbrush and non-abrasive toothpaste.  This soft liner is delicate and can tear easily if you chemically or mechanically clean it.

  3. After this first week of following the above procedures you may remove the denture as often as you like remembering that this liner is fragile and can tear easily.  You may now brush the pink plastic GENTLY but avoid brushing the soft liner.

  4. DO NOT use denture adhesive, especially during the first 72 hours. Using adhesive will not help us determine your denture's liner needs.

  5. Eat a soft diet for the first day.  After this you may eat a regular diet.  This will allow the softliner to mold itself to your gum tissue.

  6. This liner will be replaced as needed until your gum tissue is healed and/or we know that you will have full retention with your new denture.

  7. Bring your old denture with you so if we need to send your denture to the lab for a reline you will have one to wear.

  8. Do not drink alcohol or smoke while wearing a soft liner .
